Aflatoxins produce symptoms such as acute necrosis, cirrhosis and carcinoma of the liver.

What is the frequency of the disease?

The frequency of the disease is not known and is rare, there have been no outbreaks reported in the United States.

What foods have Aflatoxins been associated with?

Aflatoxins have been identified in the United States as being associated with corn and corn products, peanuts and peanut products, cottonseed, milk and tree nuts such as Brazil nuts, pecans, pistachio nuts and walnuts.
