Position Overview
As a key member of the legal team at Milavetz Law, you will be involved in the intake and practice of estates and trusts, family law, and criminal defense claims. The role will involve drafting, serving, and filing documents, tracking billing, legal research and motion practice, client communication and handling litigation. You’ll work closely with attorneys, paralegals and support staff and have the opportunity to manage a caseload with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and litigate estates and trust, family law, and criminal defense claims from intake through resolution.
- Draft, serve, file, and argue motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Conduct client interviews, provide legal counsel, and maintain consistent client communication.
- Handle discovery, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trial preparation and trial.
- Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Manage and track case deadlines to ensure timely progress and filings.
- Perform other assignments as needed to support the legal team.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Minnesota and in good standing with the bar.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Good work ethic, attention to detail, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of previous experience in relevant areas of practice.
- Proven ability to independently manage a caseload.
- Background in customer service or client-facing roles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Office, Outlook, and Excel).
- Self-starter with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
