Hip Replacement Recalls

Are you a victim of a defective metal-on-metal hip implant after undergoing hip replacement surgery? Are you aware of the massive hip replacement recall affecting thousands of Americans?

Recently, a class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of individuals throughout the United States who received faulty hip implants. Individuals suffered from:

  • Unexplained hip pain
  • Hip failure
  • Pain in the thigh or groin area
  • Discomfort and pain when walking, standing or carrying objects
  • Pain rising from a seated position
  • Loosening of the implant

If you or a loved one has received a defective Zimmer Durom Cup or DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement, please email or call us at 612-444-5604 to speak with one of our hip recall lawyers because you may be entitled to medical monitoring and compensation from Zimmer or DePuy.

We are also accepting cases for other types of hip implants. Visit our Products Liability page to learn more.

In August 2010, a DePuy ASR (Johnson & Johnson) hip recall was issued for approximately 93,000 defective implants after data confirmed that the device has an unreasonably high rate of hip failure, often requiring individuals to undergo a second surgery to revise the original hip replacement. The product recall includes two defective models:

  • ASRTM XL Acetabular System
  • ASRTM Hip Resurfacing System

These faulty hip implants were implanted in patients between 2005 and 2009.

Unlike many other injury lawsuits, the DePuy ASR class action suit is attempting to force the manufacturer to pay for necessary tests and medical monitoring that will be required for individuals who have not yet experienced problems.

On July 24, 2008, Zimmer Inc. had a recall on their prosthetic hip implant, the Durom Cup. The Durom Cup has been implanted in over 12,000 patients since it was first sold in the United States in 2006.

If you received one of these hip implants and are experiencing problems, you may qualify for compensation for physical damage, additional surgeries, and your pain and suffering. Do not contact DePuy Orthopaedics or Zimmer without first talking to an attorney with experience handling defective medical device cases. It is crucial that you fully understand your rights.
